Client: Mainbrace Constructions

Project Scope: Design and installation of a 1,681 sqm bespoke awning system using custom laminated glass and color backed panels, integrated with steel and aluminium framing to provide weather protection and visual impact along Sydney’s waterfront.

Duration: Staged delivery completed on schedule (Stage 1 – 15 days, Stage 2 – 25 days, Stage 3 – 15 days).

Delivery Model

Collaborative build with PMDL Architecture + Design, Mainbrace Constructions, Metal Projects (steel), and GTS (supplier).

The Challenge

Coordinating the delivery and installation of large format glass panels in a high traffic waterfront precinct demanded precise scheduling, after hours deliveries and close collaboration with multiple contractors.

The Solution

Magic Glass fabricated and installed 13.52mm heat soaked laminated glass and 6mm color backed glass, supported by a custom aluminium and steel frame. All edges were polished, tolerances aligned with shop drawings and lifting equipment was used to safely position oversized panels. The works complied with AS1288 and AS2047 standards ensuring durability and safety.

The Feedback

The completed awning system was praised for its seamless integration, polished detailing and strong architectural presence. The project not only met performance expectations but also elevated the public realm with a striking, durable, and functional design solution.
