Client: Scentre Group & Insync Construction Group.

Project Scope: Removal and full replacement of an aging atrium skylight with 24 custom-fabricated laminated glass panels, designed to enhance daylighting, reduce glare, and comply with modern glazing standards.

Duration: Six consecutive night shifts

Delivery Model

Completed during night works only ensuring zero disruption to retail operations in the lead up to peak Christmas trade.

The Challenge

The project required replacing a large format skylight in one of Sydney’s busiest shopping centers without interrupting daily operations. Limited crane access, strict scheduling windows, and the need for precise integration with a preexisting steel structure added to the complexity.

The Solution

Magic Glass coordinated closely with Scentre Group, Insync Construction Group, and Bligh Tanner Engineers to execute a seamless installation. Working entirely at night, a team of six glaziers installed 24 oversized panels of 13.52mm Evantage laminated glass, hoisted safely into place by mobile crane. Precision sizing, silicone sealing, and powder-coated framing ensured a weather-tight, visually refined finish that met all AS1288 and AS2047 standards.

The Feedback

The skylight replacement was delivered on time and without disruption transforming the atrium roof into a modern architectural feature. Both the client and center management praised the project’s smooth execution, high quality finish and the ability of Magic Glass to deliver a complex glazing upgrade under demanding conditions.
